Wrinklies lunch a success!
The 12th of January saw the annual 'Wrinklies Lunch'. We would like to thank them on behalf of the members, for all the work they do throughout the year. Many small and larger jobs are carried out by these unsung members and we are very grateful to them all, past and present. If you have time on your hands and feel you can help on a Monday morning do contact Tim Bray if you are

Wayfarer Mengeham Series - Summer 2025
A great report from the Wayfarer Association. "Mengeham Rythe SC on Hayling Island is situated on a tidal creek that enables direct access to the sheltered waters of Chichester Harbour, and beyond into the Solent should the dinghy cruiser be so adventurous. It has been described as "the best kept secret in Chichester Harbour". It is from this base that Chris Tyler and his wife Helen (W28) planned a series of three events

Prize Giving 2025
Our first prize giving for four years gave us both new and old faces, and in our 75th Anniversary season it was good to recognise the generosity of our founder Alec Brennan Trophies for the Anniversary day races, The Founders Cup (originally a fishing trophy) for the fast, and the 21st Trophy (to celebrate the Club's 21st) for the slow, h,caps, were both presented by Alec Brenan, our founder; the fast was won by

Radio Sailing Xmas 2025
The Radio Sailing Christmas get together and prize giving held at the club last Saturday night was great success. A fantastic evening attended by 25 sailors with the commodore in attendance. An enjoyable evening was had by all along with all the usual banter, excellent food and a few beers. It's a great way to enjoy a 'sail' when the weather is a against you or you have hung up your 'tiller' for now.

RYA VHF SRC Radio Course - 2 days in January
VHF Radios have been around for many years, whilst the basic technology and the laws of Physics do not change that much, the functionality and the capability's of the Radios and other related equipment certainly have increased. Looking across the various ways in which we get on the water at Mengeham, from Cruisers, Dinghies, Paddle Sports, Ribs, Rowing, even Dragon Force events on the Harbour, also on shore organisers, Radios are key

Our new Gig
We now have a new gig, a 15ft Bursledon called "Dreamer" built by Ian Ducane. The interest in rowing at MRSC is growing and we are taking every opportunity to get out. This row on the 3rd December was chilly but it was lovely to be out on the calm, quiet waters of the harbour. Sadly we did not see any seals on this trip.

MRSC's new Commodore
We welcome our new Commodore, Robert Macdonald. We wish him all the very best for the future. Also we thank the outgoing commodore, John Barnett, for his tireless work and service over the past years, especially with reference to the flood works - well done and thank you. Robert has been a member at Mengeham since a teenager in the late 1960s, enjoying decades of sailing, socialising, and enjoying the spectacular location of the club.

The Rowans 26th Charity race - another great day
26th Rowans Charity Fund Raising Day - total raised so far £32,400! Many thanks to all those who took part and kindly donated to this worthy cause! The day was a great success with a lovely atmosphere and plenty of generous support from members and visitors. There were a few hiccups with the organisation of the race which caused delay and mistakes with the results, which is regrettable and hopefully not repeated next year.
