The results for our MRSC Regatta are HERE. Race report (with pics ate the end): After a week of blistering heat and relieved by welcome sea breezes, Sunday 28th June brought some respite with a good 16 knot South Westerly and little sign of any rain for the early start for Mengeham Regatta, attracting 47 entries.

A classic harbour course was set up on 240° with the windward mark shy of SW Pilsey, for a starboard handing. All events were given 3 rounds with the start line in the vicinity of John Davis, the seven Flying Fifteens made a cracking start spread along the line against the incoming tide, and giving the crews a choice of whether to head out over the Winner or play the wind shifts over the Pilsey Sands. Mark and Anne-Marie Wood chose to head out to the winner and secured the first rounding. The Fast H'cap had the largest entry with Rob Henderson and Rebecca Videlo from Frensham Pond in their Merlin Rocket seeing off all the local harbour boats to take final line honours. The Finns sadly were unable to get their numbers together so dropped in to the Medium Handicap where RS 200 Mark Thomas & Alex Ling made a pin end start to cross the fleet on port. Despite this they were unable to hold off Roger and Ali Kent (MRSC) in the Wayfarer on corrected time.

The last away The Slow handicap, were the only fleet to have an individual recall with IlKA 4 sailed by Elenor Bishop (MRSC) having an almost perfect start but only cross the line 5 seconds early.

For most competitors the course proved challenging with place changes up the beats and for some in the slow handicap a few capsizes! The club line finish gave an exciting final leg with the fifteens changing places and allowing Andrew Jamieson and Greg Wells (HISC) to take the gun ahead of Richard Jordon. The Solos similarly enjoyed a close finish with only 1 second separating winner Paul Lewis from Guy Major crossing the line. In the slow handicap. After an hour and three quarters the Europe sailed by Robin Gadd beat the Aero 5 Jo Hewitson, both from HISC, by 2 seconds on corrected time.

Competitors enjoyed a traditional regatta tea afterwards in the continuing afternoon sunshine.
