RYA VHF SRC Radio Course - 2 days in January
Published 13:21 on 12 Dec 2025
- VHF Radios have been around for many years, whilst the basic technology and the laws of Physics do not change that much, the functionality and the capability's of the Radios and other related equipment certainly have increased.
- Looking across the various ways in which we get on the water at Mengeham, from Cruisers, Dinghies, Paddle Sports, Ribs, Rowing, even Dragon Force events on the Harbour, also on shore organisers, Radios are key tools and people need to be confident in using them. Mengeham has a good mix of new commers with little or no VHF experience and seasoned sailors who may have used a Radio for years and want a refresher session. Mengham have 10 hand held Radios usually used on P5, a private channel which gives us a less formal environment to communicate. Other clubs use M1, M2 and the harbour master uses Channel 14. There are more powerful Radios at the Club, a base station and on Tarka, the committee boat.
