Successful 'Borrow Bags' Workshop

On a Saturday in March, with no water in the creek to sail or row, we took the opportunity to run a very successful workshop making Borrow Bags. Whilst we may only have completed 12 bags during the session, we had lots of fun, ate lots of cake, cut out lots of bags ready to sew and welcomed members who popped in to collect a pattern and Borrow Bag labels.
The global Borrow Bag campaign is aimed at helping to tackle plastic pollution at source by making shopping bags out of unwanted fabric which will eventually be donated to local shops on Hayling to divert shoppers from using plastic carrier bags. MRSC and other groups on the island are joining Hayling Island Sailing Club to make 1000 bags so that the charity, The Final Straw Foundation, can then involve the local shops in the campaign.
